Koegel Meats produces approximately 35 different products. Abbott s coney sauce, beef bologna, skinless frankfurters, bockwurst, bratwurst, braunschweiger, ham, headcheese, liver sausage, pickled red hots and salami are among the company s product line. They are sold almost exclusively in Michigan with a small percentage going to Toledo, Ohio. Albert Koegel came to the Flint, Mich., area in 1916, to start his own business. By the mid 1930s, after he took an apprenticeship in Germany, Koegel had built up enough business to construct a plant to produce his meat products. In 1972, Koegel's son built a new manufacturing plant near Bishop Airport in Flint.
