Established in 1960, James C. Veen Observatory is owned and operated by the Grand Rapids Amateur Astronomical Association. The building consists of two domes. Its west dome has more than 16-inch Schmidt cassegrain and a daystar hydrogen-alpha filter. James C. Veen Observatory s east dome also has more than14-inch Schmidt cassegrain and more than three telescopes. Additionally, the observatory has a telescope located grounds for general viewing purpose. It also has a large meeting room, a library, and an audiovisual system for presentations to both the members and the public. James C. Veen Observatory hosts various educational seminars and workshops on astronomical-related topics. The observatory is located in Lowell, Mich.
