The Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) is a 501C3 tax-exempt non-profit organization that serves the most vulnerable people in Metropolitan Detroit through the Muslim faith, Islamic principles, and a commitment to assisting others. Since its opening in January 2000, the ICD has provided programming and services not only to its Muslim constituency but also to the underserved communities in the surrounding neighborhoods.
The ICD has achieved significant accomplishments, including expanding its services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and families in need. In 2019, the center won the Art Van Charity Challenge, raising nearly $350,000 and securing a $100,000 grant. The ICD continues to make a positive impact by offering various educational, career skill-based, and wellness programs, as well as providing essential support during times of need, such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
