Hue Projects is a privately owned, home-based architectural design firm founded by Jonathan Disbrow. Educated at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in
Chicago and the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Disbrow has experience with a number of high-end and luxury projects, including office building, hotels and private residences.
Many of the designs use glass, wood and stone with particular attention paid to the function of the area. The example of warm wood colors being used for a family living room is referenced in comparison to a business conference room. One house in particular was built using on a glulam frame and assembled onsite, which reduced the need for construction waste.
This business works with clients on projects, providing 3-D imaging, graphic and web design, and construction management. There is also a focus on an environmentally friendly project by utilizing "prefabricated structural systems, reclaimed waste stream materials," and materials that waste little energy (air conditioning or heat).
Disbrow's design have been described as having little unneeded space and the designs also utilize recycled materials. One such project used recycled slate, the scrap pieces of which were then used for the fireplace and other areas. Environmentally sustainable wood is also used, and woods stains are water-based.
