HistoryIn 1964 Fred Meijer lost his beloved father who owned a barbershop in Greenville, Mi. That same year, he was building the Westnedge Meijer store. In a quest to honor his father, he asked a Millwood barber to open his barbershop inside the store. Joe Nuyen, reluctantly, opened in the Westnedge location. Later he went on to open more barbershops inside Meijer, including, Grand Rapids, Jackson, Ann Arbor, Lansing and Portage. In 2007 Joe, now in his 80's, sold each location to the Managers who were in charge of each shop. Candaice Leonard purchased the Westnedge location and went on to open a second Portage location inside the Shaver Rd Meijer. At Shaver Rd we found ourselves receiving more women and children as guests. We loved it and decided to add color and waxing services to our menu. We are team of licensed professionals who love what we do and truly enjoy our guests.
