About Gentile's Collision Gentile's Collision is a Direct Repair Shop and we've been in business since 1941. We have generations of customers and offer body, paint, detailing, customizing, and accessories all under one roof. Gentile's Collision was one of the first collision shops to become a direct repair facility in the Detroit area and we're proud of our reputation of being the most efficient and structured Direct Repair shop available. Michael Arthur Gentile established Gentile's Service in 1941. At first, it was a full service mechanic shop and towing business. Mike worked with his only son Michael Arthur Jr. in Hamtramck on Conant Ave. Ginger Taflan, future business partner, was working while a co-op student and took a position as a bookkeeper. The service then added on Gentile's Collision repair and the business started to grow. In the late 1950s, Mike Jr. bought Michael Sr. out and his son Michael Arthur the 3rd went on to another career. In 1985, Gentile's service was sold in Hamtramk. In 1986, Mark Gentile's second son of Mike Jr. and brother to Mike the 3rd purchased Ginger's shares of the collision shop and Ginger stayed on as the bookkeeper to support the growth of the business. In 1992, the first addition of 3, 600 sq. ft. was added and Gentile's Collision received a one-time eligibility beautification award. A second addition of 4, 500 sq. ft. was finished in 1995 and Gentile's Collision was now in need of more management. Mark's sister Melanie and John Ferris were hired as office managers to carry on with the company's growth. Ginger Taflan passed on in 1996 and is greatly missed by all that had the opportunity to know her. The following year Gentile had yet another great loss. Michael Arthur Jr. Died at the youthful age of 62. He was an established and well-liked businessman in Shelby Township and his vision of a successful collision business had become a reality. Today, Mark Gentile is sole proprietor and the company continues to grow with the addition of a 2000 sq. ft. detailing center. Hiring Dennis Allen to join the team as assistant manager and fourth generation Mark Gentile Jr. brings the total to 16 employees. Mark Sr. credits his managers, technicians and the rest of his staff for their loyalty and dedication that contributes to the success of the business. The majority of the employees have been here for 10 to 20 years and maintain required training such as ICAR and ASE certifications. Just as important, the staff are really great people to work with. Mark Sr. has worked in the family business for 26 years and says he wouldn't have chosen anything else. "When you love what you do it shows". He is proud of the business and welcomes Mark Jr. to carry on with the family's tradition of expert repair and service.
