More than 50 percent of Flickinger Elementary School students can walk to the school, which is in a quaint Utica neighboorhood. The school, which opened in 1967 with twelve classrooms, has grown to include another fourteen classrooms, a gymnasium, research/media center, and includeds a recently completed addition of a suite of rooms dedicated to science, art, and music instruction. The school was founded by Walter Flickinger, a local businessman, who had served on the UCS Board of Education for 21 years at the time of the building's dedication.
