Doris Klaussen Developmental Center provides special education and is operated by the Calhoun Intermediate School District. Its educational services are for students with moderate to severe physical or mental impairments. The center provides classrooms for people: who have moderate and severe cognitive impairments; are severely multiply impaired; have affected by early childhood developmental delays; day treatments for students with severe emotional impairments; and offers a prevocational training program for adult students. It also offers various other programs, such as autism and physical education. The center additionally offers occupational therapy, pre-adult training programs and speech therapies. Its curriculum includes personal care, independent living, communication, leisure and recreation, cognitive, prevocational and vocational training, social and emotional development and motor skills. The center is located in Battle Creek, Mich.
