Dearborn Magnet High School is the newest edition to Dearborn Public Schools. Opened in 2009, it was established to help teenagers who are at risk of dropping out of school. Enrollment is based on referrals, and all students go through an interview process to determine if the school is a good fit for them.
The school has graduated fewer than 20 students so far and focuses on students who have not succeeded in the "traditional" high school setting. Along with academic classes, students focus on learning life skills, employability and creating a positive attitude.
The Magnet High School is housed at the Michael Berry Career Center, which is also home to Henry Ford Early College and the Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology.
