Cass Community serves a diverse population by providing for basic needs, including affordable housing, promoting self-reliance, and encouraging community involvement and improvement. It conducts various day programs for the developmentally disabled and mentally ill. Its occupational therapists assess abilities and assist in the creation of individual goals for each participant. Through its eastside ministries, the organization offers skill-building programs for adults, including occupational therapy assessment, participant goal setting, community interaction, transportation, and lunch and volunteer opportunities. Its programs are funded through the Managed Care Provider Network of the Detroit Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency and it is certified by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. The organization s homeless services include a drop-in center; transitional housing for men, women and children; HIV and AIDS shelter; and mobile outreach programs.
