Black Family Development is a private nonprofit counseling agency, founded in 1978, by the Detroit Chapter of the National Association of Black Social Workers. It offers a variety of specialized, family counseling and advocacy services in the community. It provides various family preservation and support services, including home-based counseling, therapeutic support, transportation, assessments, evaluation, crisis intervention, parent education, skill building, family stabilization and child management. The organization offers a range of mental health services, such as health referrals, case management, therapeutic counseling, psychiatric consultation and classroom intervention. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and is licensed by the Michigan Department of Consumer Industry Services. Black Family Development is located in Detroit.
