The Birmingham Public Schools Transportation is one of the departments operated by the Birmingham Public Schools. The department is located Birmingham, Mich., and has a fleet of more than 50 buses, which normally takes nearly 200 runs for regular education students in kindergarten through grade 12. Additionally, it transports more than 500 nonpublic students to nearly 10 different facilities. Its buses travel nearly 4,500 miles daily to transport more than 4,500 students. The department also has special education bus routes for students who attend in-district facilities and out-of-district facilities. It provides transportation services for student field trips, athletic and band competitions and work programs for special needs students. The department employs more than 80 bus drivers and paraprofessionals who work with the students on every-day basis. The Birmingham Public Schools Transportation also participates in the southeast quadrant of Oakland county regional transportation program.
