Located in Battle Creek, Mich., the Doris Klaussen Developmental Center is operated by the Calhoun Independent School District and provides educational services for students with moderate to severe impairments. Its on-site programs include day treatment for students with severe emotional impairments and a prevocational training program for adult students. Its off-site programs are located in local K-12 buildings and include cognitive impairment-moderate level, autism and early childhood developmental delays programs. The Calhoun Independent School District serves more than 3,900 special education students within its nearly 10 constituent districts and four public school academies and provides many special education services. Its special education ancillary services include adaptive physical education, nursing services, occupational and physical therapies, psychological services, in-home service for children up to 3 years old, and vocational evaluation and transition services.
