“Dr. Andy” Chen is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery with advanced technology, medical and surgical management of glaucoma, diabetic eye examination, dry eye disease treatment, and macular degeneration evaluation. From a humble upbringing, he was the first person in his family to attend college and medical school. He completed a 5-year bachelor and master program in 4 years at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then attended the University of Michigan Medical School with a generous merit-based scholarship. Afterward, he graduated with distinction in research and focus in global health and disparities. During his rigorous medical training, he published multiple research articles to advance the management of the diabetic eye disease. He also devoted his time to serving his community through Kellogg Eye Center Hope Clinic, University of Michigan Asylum Collaborative, Food Gatherer’s Community Kitchen, and other volunteering experience.
