Allegan District Library is located on Hubbard Street in downtown Allegan. The library services the area of the Allegan Public School District. We provide access to both fiction and nonfiction books, periodicals, videos, cds, DVDs, CDs and Audiobooks, as well as an on-staff reference librarian to help research any subject for any age group in-house and through inter-library loans.The library also has a children's area and a children's librarian who provides children's programming and cooperative resources with area schools.Allegan District Library has internet stations available and a fully computerized card catalog system. Through the Internet, users have access to a variety of databases meeting informational needs in areas of health, law, government, the sciences, arts, education, and entertainment.These resources are meant to entertain, inform, and educate all library patrons, though some restrictions apply to internet use.There is no charge for a Library card to citizens who live within the the area of the Allegan Public School District.. To get a card, simply come by the Library with proof of your current address and the name, address, and telephone number of a contact person. Examples of proof of residence can be a Michigan Drivers License, lease agreement, checks from a local bank, utility bills, etc. Children under the age of 18 need the signature of their parents or legal guardian on their registration cards. Out of area visitors are always welcome and can use the materials in the library without a card.Persons living outside the official service area may purchase a family card for $20 per year. Charge of this non-resident fee is an attempt to share fairly the burden of the Library's operating costs.
