Abbott Middle School is one of two middle schools in the West Bloomfield School District and one of 12 schools all together. In the 2009-10 school year, principal Amy Hughes led the Eagles, its staff of 67, and its 780 students enrolled in grades 6-8 to 86-90 percent proficiency in the MEAP math test for seventh graders and 86-92 percent proficiency in the test for eighth graders, which represents a significant climb. Last year, Abbott was one of three schools in Michigan to participate in National Study Of Writing Instruction with University of Albany.
