Girls Incorporated of Greater Haverhill is committed to effectively meeting the needs of girls in the community; to help girls find their own identity and to develop their capacity to be self-sufficient, responsible citizens; and to serve as a vigorous advocate for girls, focusing attention on their special needs. We inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold! In 1913 Haverhill Girls Club was founded to provide young female factory workers a place to socialize and have fun with others. In 1945, Girls Club of Haverhill became one of the original charter members of the newly formed national organization - Girls Clubs of America. A lot has changed since the Industrial Revolution, for girls and for the community; yet throughout we have responded to the ever-changing needs of girls and their families. During the last ninety-six years we have served over 10, 000 girls - this proud history has enabled us to provide a place for girls to come to, inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Today, we remain committed to the same thing our founders were committed to in 1913: empowering girls and creating an equitable society. Throughout our history, Girls Incorporated of Greater Haverhill has depended greatly on the community for our success. Individuals have proudly served as board members, volunteers and role models for the many girls who have come through our doors. Our partnerships with other community and programs enables us to offer comprehensive services to girls and their families. In difficult and good economic times, Girls Inc has remained and anchor in the Acre neighborhood of Haverhill, providing a welcoming place for girls.
