Founded in 1887, Old Colony YMCA is a nonprofit organization that serves more than 100,000 individuals in over 30 communities in southeastern Massachusetts. The organization administers various fitness, after-school enrichment, senior wellness and residential treatment programs. It organizes swimming classes, youth asset building activities and summer camps. Old Colony YMCA also provides tutoring and literacy and character development training services. The organization operates nearly 40 child care sites that serve approximately 2,000 children from various age groups. In addition, it coordinates a mentoring program for children and adolescents in partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Old Colony YMCA maintains an assessment and stabilization unit that provides residential care services to adolescent males.
