Founded in 1763, The Governor's Academy is one of the oldest independent boarding schools in the United States. The academy educates more than 350 students in grades nine through 12. Its curriculum includes English, fine arts, American history, language arts, mathematics, college counseling and science and technology. The academy also offers music, visual arts, drama, theater and dance. It has a fully equipped library and media center that has a large collection of books and offers various student research links and resources. The academy has athletic teams for baseball, golf, lacrosse, softball, tennis, basketball, hockey, volleyball, wrestling, cross country, football and soccer. The Governor's Academy is located in Byfield, Mass.
