The Stoughton Police headquarters is located on Rose Street, diagonally acorss from the Town Hall, and just past the downtown area. The current building opened in 1999. The Police Department responds to general disturbance calls and other emergenices, but according to Executive Officer Robert Devine, the Police Department wants to avoid being seen as just a "9-1-1 organization." Therefore, crime reduction and crime prevention are two major goals for the department.
The Police Department offers various community outreach services, like youth after school programs, as well as programs dealing with crime prevention in the business community or internet safety and drug prevention. Free CPR training and free inspection of child safety seats is also available.
The current Chief of Police is Paul J. Shastany, who oversees an Executive Officer, two lieutenants, nine sergeants, four detectives and 33 patrolmen.
There is a community room in the Police Station available for small functions. Visit the police website for more details about the department, or visit the department's Facebook page.
