Elected in 2004, Mayor Jeanette McCarthy is the town's highest elected official. Before taking office, she served two years on the City Council and from 1986 - 1991 sat on the School Committee.
A Suffolk Law School graduate, McCarthy has also served as cIty solicitor and in its legal department. She is a 1971 graduate of Waltham High School.
