Amidst the bustling streets and shops of Newton Centre sits a large recreational area known as the Newton Centre Playground. The park offers four hard-top tennis courts, baseball fields, and basketball courts. Local sports programs often use the park for matches or tournaments. A grassy field in the back of the park also provides space for soccer games or volleyball matches.
Located in the center of the park is a brightly colored, updated playground. The plastic slides, swings, and climbing areas provide a safe play area for kids.
A building in the back of the park known as the "hut" is run by the Parks and Recreation Department and can be used by after-school programs and community groups.
Newton Centre Playground is a half-mile walk from the Newton Center MBTA stop (Green line, D branch). The #52 MBTA bus stops nearby at the intersection of Center Street and Gibbs Street.
