Metropolitan Credit Union, headquartered in Chelsea, Mass., has been serving the people of the state for more than 75 years. It is one of the largest credit unions in Massachusetts, with over 100,000 members. It offers products and services, such as Visa and MasterCard, savings and investments, checking, consumer lending, and home and automobile financing. It also offers Courtesy Pay, a service that is automatically extended to all checking accounts once members have met established criteria. This service makes funds available to pay for items that would normally be returned for insufficient or unavailable funds. The credit union also offers Metro Sweep, a service that enables members to transfer funds from another branch account to cover overdrafts on their checking accounts. The Metropolitan credit union serves more than 1,700 companies statewide. It has six full-service branches located in Chelsea, Burlington, Framingham, Lawrence and Peabody, Mass.
