Massachusetts Coastal Railroad is part of Cape Rail, which also operates the Cape Cod Central Railroad and Dinner Train.
Massachusetts Coastal Railroad is the commercial arm that assumed the Cape Cod operations of Bay Colony Railroad.
Its chief operating mission is to haul the trash off Cape by way of the "Energy Train," which serves the waste disposal needs of numerous Cape towns, saving the Cape's delicate environment from contamination and spoilage.
It maintains the rail lines on Cape and provides transportation services throughout southeastern Massachusetts, and its locomotives use Mass Coastal as its identifying markings.
