The Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory is a modern forensic sciences facility that offers criminal investigation and prosecution services in the state of Massachusetts. It provides a variety of evidence examination services. The laboratory recovers and collects fingerprints, firearms, weapons, drugs, clothing and other materials in stabbings, shootings, fire debris and vehicle incidents. The Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory maintains an arson and explosives unit. The laboratory offers DNA and chemical analysis, as well as fingerprint identification services. It operates a ballistics section that is responsible for conducting scientific examination, comparison and identification of firearms. The Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory also maintains drug, toxicology and evidence control units.
