History
John and Assunta Lucci immigrated from Italy in the 1920's. They established a small store in Stoneham. Working with them, their son John began to learn the business. He decided he wanted to open his own after returning from the Korean War. His father helped him find a location in Wilmington. He found a store on what was then known as Perry's Corner. By that time, John had married Marjorie Landry. John and Midge cleaned up the store, put up some shelves, and on January 9, 1956, they opened Lucci's Supermarket. The original store was rather small, so Midge and John built a new store (where Picture Works presently stands). John Sr., Midge, and Assunta worked in this second store. John Lucci Jr. grew up in the supermarket business where it presently stands since 1968. He had the privilege of working with his grandmother and his parents. He has worked full time at Lucci's since his 1980 graduation from Bentley. Susan, John's wife, helps run things along with Susan's Kitchen.
