Luc a Lighting and Design is the brainchild of lighting specialist Lucy Dearborn and real estate developer David J. Solimine, Jr. On May 17, 2005, David signed an agreement to purchase the former Pinkham estate mansion at 311 Western Avenue, Lynn as a real estate investment. He immediately approached his long-time lighting consultant, Lucy Dearborn, about the idea of bringing a top-notch lighting showroom to Lynn. In short order, Lucy and David drafted a business plan and formed a partnership. On June 15, the Solimine family took title to the Western Ave. property. Two days later, Lucy and David announced their new business, Luc a Lighting and Design, inc. Over the next nine months, the landmark mansion was renovated into a lighting showroom. While lovingly preserving the rich architectural details in the building, a number of talented local trade people created 8, 000 square feet of showroom space. Over 7, 000 square feet of warehouse space was added to the rear of the building, blending nicely with the exterior architecture. With construction ongoing, Luc a Lighting and Design quietly opened to the public for business on Jan. 2, 2006. On March 30, 2006, with all construction activity completed, the new warehouse was transformed into "cafe Luc a" for a fabulous evening soiree attended by over 250 contractors, design professionals, family and friends. April 1, 2006 Grand Opening!
