Fisherman's Beach is home to the historic Fish House, built in the 1890s to replace fish shanties, and now listed on the National Register of Historic Landmarks. Local lobstermen still use the Fish House and the Swampscott Yacht Club meets on its second floor. Fisherman's Beach includes a pier, and a sandy beach where visitors spread blankets and enjoy the day during the summer. The beach looks upon Nahant Bay, where moored and anchored boats roll upon incoming and outgoing tides. Above the beach is a grassy area where memorials and monuments invite inspection and contemplation. The town offers sailing programs at the beach. Swimmers brave the Atlantic's chilly temperatures here.
