Charlestown Engine 32 and Ladder 9 is the larger of two firehouses in Charlestown, MA. A part of the City's District 3 unit, it sits on the edge of the industrial area that surrounds Sullivan Square.
As an engine company, Engine 32 is the fire fighting part of the company. Firefighters in this unit use hoses to extinguish fires and they also rescue victims. Firefighters in a Ladder 9 provide access to and exit from a burning building; they too rescue victims. Engine 32 responds to approximately 1,000 fire situations per year, Ladder 9, 1,300.
