EMW Bookstore is a community-oriented space and resource in Cambridge's Central Square, serving as a hub for creative and cultural work in arts technology. With a mission to affirm and celebrate marginalized communities, EMW fosters creativity, education, and capacity-building towards a more liberatory world.
Originally opened in 1998 as East Meets West, the bookstore was revitalized in 2004 by community organizers, becoming a center for art, activism, and the home of the longest running APIA open mic on the east coast, East Meets Words. In 2011, EMW expanded its impact to include technology and other art forms while staying true to its social justice roots.
