The Dennis Police Department enforces laws, preserves peace, and protects lives and property, as well as safeguards civil rights. It is comprised of more than 50 sworn officers and civilians. The department has an animal control unit that relocates lost and stray animals. The Dennis Police Department also operates crime prevention, bicycle patrol, motorcycle and traffic enforcement units. In addition, it maintains juvenile and victim services units. The department conducts National Night Out and neighborhood and crime watch programs, as well as hosts a citizens police academy. The Dennis Police Department supports Rape Aggression Defense Systems (R.A.D.) and Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) programs. It employs various school resource officers and honor guards. The department also provides crime maps and statistics, as well as offers firearms licensing services. The Dennis Police Department is located in South Dennis, Mass.
