Congregation Sha-Aray Shalom

For more than 40 years Congregation Sha'aray Shalom has been a diverse and welcoming Jewish community on Boston's South Shore. Our congregation's home is on historic and beautiful Main Street in Hingham. A member of the Union for Reform Judaism, we have approximately 275 families from more than 20 towns ranging from Boston to Plymouth, with primary concentrations in Hingham, Cohasset, Scituate, Marshfield, Hull and Hanover. We are led by a dynamic clergy team of Rabbi Shira Joseph and Cantor Steven Weiss and offer weekly Shabbat services as well as a full calendar of festival celebrations, a full program religious school with nearly 200 students and varied adult learning as well as social programs. The last two weeks of August and the first two weeks of September are designated as special Shabbatot to welcome in those who would like to learn more information about our synagogue. Membership Committee members will be on hand to greet you, a tour of the building as well as an opportunity to answer all of your questions.

Temple Chayai Shalom began as a conservative movement in 1976. In 1993, it began to affiliate with the Reform Movement. The original building was on Mechanic Street in North Easton. Its new building on Depot Street was purchased in 1995. The congregation is led by Rabi Jodi Seewald Smith.
