History
The farm began, in 1733, as the frontier site for the family of Obadiah McIntyre. Originally called West Oxford, the town's name was changed to Charlton, in 1751. Charlton Orchards as we know it began in 1949, as a pick your own apple orchard that incorporated peaches, blueberries and strawberries, in the 1960s. Later in the 1970s, and continuing throughout the eighties, the orchard moved towards more wholesale production with limited retail. In 1997, the Benjamin family purchased the farm and added additional small fruits, a bakery, a vineyard and winery, and changed the farm's focus from wholesale to retail.
