The Center for Human Development, also known as CHD, works to promote, enhance and protect the dignity and welfare of people. Founded in 1972, the center operates more than 40 programs. It serves over 6,000 children, adults and families in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The center supports people with psychiatric and developmental disabilities. It also serves senior citizens and homeless individuals. The Center for Human Development offers violence prevention services for schools. The center provides mediation and training programs to various community organizations. It offers clinical, outreach therapeutic and crisis assessment services. The Center for Human Development additionally provides emergency assistance and long-term foster care services.
