Founded in 1972, the Center for Human Development, also known as CHD, is a nonprofit organization that offers a variety of services for children, senior citizens and individuals with various psychiatric and developmental disabilities. It administers various therapeutic, vocational, emergency foster care, mental health, juvenile justice, crisis assessment, day treatment, shelter and supported housing programs. The Center for Human Development also maintains the HIV/AIDS Law Consortium, which provides community legal clinics, seminars and legal services for people affected with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, the organization operates the Meadows Homes program, which provides several residential and support services in the areas of health care, transportation, leisure and community activities, religion, money management, and job placement and retention.
