The Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, formerly known as the Cape Islands Chamber Music Festival, has been a prominent presenter of chamber music on Cape Cod since its establishment in 1979. Founded by collaborative pianist Samuel Sanders, the festival aims to provide world-class quality chamber music programming throughout the year. With four weeks of intensive concerts in various Cape locations during July and August, as well as Autumn and Spring series, community outreach programs, and benefit concerts, the festival has become a major contributor to the cultural life of Cape Cod. The festival also has a special commitment to showcasing young emerging artists alongside established musicians.
Supported by a volunteer Board of Directors and financial contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations, the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival is a private, non-profit organization. It features a Composer-in-Residence program that has hosted renowned composers and composers with Cape Cod connections. The festival has presented performances by notable artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Emmanuel Ax, Joshua Bell, and Dawn Upshaw, among others.
