Serving youth for more than 85 years, Camp Atwater is a residential summer camp for boys and girls of ages 8 to 15 years old. Located in North Brookfield, Mass., it develops youth physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Founded in 1921, Camp Atwater is owned and operated by the Urban League of Springfield. The camp is approved by the American Camping Association. It offers various activities, such as educational programs in African and American history, conflict and resolution mediation skills, movies, art instruction, dance and drama classes, overnight camping and arts and crafts program. Camp Atwater also offers drug abuse prevention workshops, archery, entrepreneurial instruction, rollerskating, badminton, environmental education, sailing and basketball program. Additionally, the camp offers fencing, soccer, boating, canoeing, fishing, business skills concepts, storytelling, golf instruction, swimming, hiking, tennis, and track and field program.
