Cheers originally opened as the "Bull and Finch Pub" in 1969, but then a couple of screenwriters decided to use it as inspiration for the setting of their upcoming pilot TV show, Cheers. The show was sold to NBC and it became a massive hit, catapulting the "Bull and Finch Pub" to national, even international fame. Cheers did not get its name just from the TV show. It is also famous for its "award-winning burgers and bloody marys" as well as its "casual atmosphere."
