Founded in 1855, the Brookfield Fire Department employs more than 25 men and women who provide 24-hour fire protection services. It has a fire chief, lieutenants and over 20 firefighters on its staff. The department provides fire, rescue and hazardous material response services. In addition, the Brookfield Fire Department conducts inspections and other fire prevention activities. It operates three engines, a tanker, forest fire units and a light rescue unit out of one station. It offers paramedical emergency medical response by Brookfield Emergency Medical Services, a municipal agency housed in the fire station. The department is located in Brookfield, Mass.
