Breakthrough Greater Boston, founded by MacArthur Genius Award winner Angela Duckworth in 1992, is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire excitement for learning, create paths to and through college, and promote careers in education. Through their unique Students Teaching Students model, they prepare low-income students for success in college and in life while training the next generation of teachers.
With locations in Cambridge, Boston, and Somerville, Breakthrough annually serves up to 750 students and trains 150 Teaching Fellows. Their core values of spirit, continual learning, teamwork, student-centered focus, equity, and excellence drive their commitment to fostering a community where everyone has something to learn and teach.
