Incorporated in 1851 as the Catholic Cemetery Association, Boston Catholic Cemetery Association gained its current name in 1877. The association was founded for the purpose of establishing and perpetuating a place for the burial of Catholics. It is a nonprofit association that maintains and provides a final resting place for the departed and beloved dead. Initially started in one small cemetery in Dorchester, the association now maintains four nonsectarian cemeteries. Some of the services offered include pre-payment plan for burial expenses and interest free twelve-month payment Layaway plan for gravesites. Located in Roslindale, Mass., Boston Catholic Cemetery Association has done over 340,000 burials.
