Black & Pink National is a grassroots organization founded in 2005, dedicated to abolishing the criminal punishment system and advocating for the rights of LGBTQIA2S individuals and those living with HIV/AIDS who are affected by the system. With a strong network of 11 volunteer-led chapters and over 20,000 current and formerly incarcerated members across the country, they provide support, advocacy, and organizing to bring about systemic change.
Through their programs, such as the Opportunity Campus and the Penpal Newsletter, Black & Pink National aims to transform the lived experiences of system-impacted LGBTQIA2S young people and address the challenges they face, including homelessness, assault, and discrimination. They also work towards ending solitary confinement and providing resources for reentry into society for those on the registry.
