Bare Meadow Conservation Area is a 84-acre site, the majority of which was purchase by the Town of Reading between 1972 and 1973. The site expanded by 30 acres in 1993, thanks to a land swap. It is overseen by the Reading Conservation Commission.
There are many hiking trails through the pastures, apple orchard and wooded areas. Bare Meadow is a favorite of hikers, bird-watchers and cross-country skiers. Deer hunting is allowed during deer hunting season, but only in a specific area.
There is limited parking, and an entrance off Pearl Street. A second entrance is on Franklin Street, next to the West End Cemetery.
