The Folk Arts Center of New England (FAC) is an incorporated non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting interest and participation in the traditional dance, music, and related folk arts of many cultures, and to support other groups and individuals with the same mission. Founded in 1975, FAC sponsors weekly and monthly community folk dances, annual camps, a music club, workshops and other special events. FAC dance leaders and musicians provide cultural programs in schools and community settings. It also offers school residency programs. The Folk Arts Center office in Melrose acts as an information center, providing resource and referral services for traditional dance and music communities in New England and beyond. The entrance to the office is at the rear of the building.
