Originally organized in 1823, the Westminster Fire Company has been battling fires in the county for almost 200 years. In 2010, the Westminster Fire Company went on 1563 fire calls and 4731 EMS calls. The personnel is comprised of both volunteers and paid staff. In 1998, the station was moved to its current location on John Street. At the time of its construction, it was the second largest volunteer station in Maryland at more than 35,000 sq. ft.
