Vulcan-Hart manufactures a broad line of gas and electric cooking equipment, including ranges, fryers, ovens, steam equipment, griddles and broilers. The company distributes its products through a nationwide network of manufacturer representatives that are trained food service professionals ranging in knowledge of food service operations, food safety, equipment specifications and cooking equipment recommendations based on menu offering and volume. It was awarded the 2005 Provider of the Year by The Foodservice Consultants Society International. The company traces its roots back to 1865 when a foundry company was formed in Louisville, Ky., to manufacture cooking stoves and other products. That operation would later become part of the Hart Manufacturing Company. The merger of the Vulcan Gas Company and Hart Manufacturing in 1949, gave the company its present name. Vulcan is headquartered in Baltimore and is an independent operating division of Illinois Tool Works.
