The Tire Mart has a longstanding history in the Frederick, MD area. In 1965, Ken Martin bought a small church and turned it into a tire shop. Ken used to recap tires inside the old church and change tires in the driveway before building the main shop in 1974. In 1978, a tire technician, Mitch, began working for Ken. Mitch met Ken's daughter, Karen, and in 2001, Mitch and Karen Nikirk bought the shop from Ken.
