Dr. Cunningham is a board-certified general surgeon who serves as the Director of Pancreatic and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Saint Agnes Hospital Center and Cancer Institute. He is also the Director of Research there, where he oversees the scholarly activity of resident and staff physicians in the graduate medical education program. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and has been practicing surgery since 2010. He is fellowship-trained in both pancreatic and hepatobiliary surgery and in research oncology, both fellowships from John Hopkins University. Dr. Cunningham offers world-class, multidisciplinary, thoughtful, personalized, and minimally invasive evaluation and treatment of pancreatic, biliary and liver diseases, both benign (noncancerous) and malignant (cancer surgery). He is dedicated to providing excellent care that is tailored to each patient. He approaches surgery with an empathetic perspective and strives for a meaningful impact in his patients' lives. Recognizing that having to go see a surgeon - let alone having a major operation - can be a difficult life event for patients and families, even though it is routine from the surgeon's perspective, he has a knack for putting patients at ease, while still presenting the options in a straight-forward, easy-to-understand way. He was named Top Doc by Baltimore Magazine in 2018.
