The SPCA of Anne Arundel County provides services and homes to homeless animals throughout Historic Annapolis and its surrounding areas. Founded in 1920, the organization was initially created to deal with an abundance of stray dogs in the Eastport area of Annapolis, and it continues to serve the community 90 years later. The city's first SPCA shelter, built in 1947, now holds the nonprofit's administrative offices. The shelter has cats, dogs, rabbits and other small mammals up for adoption. Visit the SPCA's website for more information about volunteering, making a donation or adopting a pet.
