Founded by Suzanne Farr in 1987 as Jefferson Commercial, Farr Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc fills the void between large, impersonal management companies and smaller firms with perhaps less in-depth commercial real estate experience for property owners who expect personal attention from their service provider while receiving high grade investment level service. Originally headquartered in the Reston / Tyson's Corner area, Suzanne continued to grow and expand Jefferson Commercial to over three million square feet of office, medical, industrial, and retail space with forty direct employees. Thirteen years later, in 2000, Suzanne sold the assets of Jefferson Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc The new owners retained Suzanne in an advisory role to ensure a successful transition. Now in 2004 Suzanne has reopened under a new name: Farr Commercial Real Estate Services, Inc with AMO accreditation. The Accredited Management Organization ( AMO ) accreditation by the Institute of Real Estate Management recognizes excellence among real estate management firms. Less than 600 firms worldwide have achieved this distinguished accreditation which indicates the highest levels of performance, experience and financial stability. Among her many interests, Suzanne has served for many years on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of AOBA ( Apartment and Office Building Association ), the Washington DC chapter of BOMA ( Building Owners & Managers Association ) as well as the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance. She remains active in the Annapolis and Washington performing arts scene and served on the Board of Directors of the Fairfax Symphony for many years. She was a board member of the Congregation of Kol Ami in Annapolis. As a long time sailor, Suzanne captains her Bristol 35.5 Farr Away around the Chesapeake Bay and to New England. She regularly volunteers the SOS, Inc sailing club and is a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club.
